Position Summary: Highly responsible position training airline flight crews with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out safely and correctly all normal and emergency procedures on Airbus aircraft, in accordance with the Airworthiness Authorities and specific airline procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

Teach, observe, assess and grade Airbus and airline Courses as assigned – 90%

  • Conduct ground, systems integration and flight training; to include Crew Resource Management, Threat and Error Management and Competency Based Training and Assessment /Evidence Based Training courses, for flight crew transition, certification, cross-cockpit qualification, line oriented simulation and recurrent courses and/or other training required by Airbus or responsible authorities.
  • Become proficient with all Training Center resources, e.g. software, classroom tools, written materials etc. as necessary to teach assigned courses.
  • Evaluate trainee(s) progress gaining the skills and knowledge during the assigned course. Make decisions on additional training, as necessary, for trainee(s) to achieve required competency. Accurately document trainee progress files.
  • Continually review materials and information for updated information and procedures; to include but not limited to the FCTP, FITB, FCOM, QRH and email updates.
  • Review and recommend changes in courseware or course content to improve the overall effectiveness of instruction.
  • Maintain competency and qualification on Airbus version(s) assigned by the Director, Flight Training.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • High School Graduated Required
  • BS/BA preferred


Experience:

  • 3 Year minimum airline experience


Licensure/Certifications:

  • A320 Type Rating
  • FAA ATP or Commercial Instrument Rating Multi Engine with Airbus “Fly By Wire” aircraft type rating
  • 5,000 hours as a pilot preferred; 4,000 required
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours in jet transport category aircraft
  • A minimum of 1,500 hours as pilot in command


Knowledge, Skills and Demonstrated Capabilities:


Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Able to communicate effectively in fluent English to conduct instruction and briefings.
  • Able to write progress reports for submission to the airlines or authorities.


Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Able to operate computers (including iPads;, computer software (including Airbus and Google Workspace); and FSTDs within the Airbus network including satellite training centers


Citizenship:

  • S. Citizen or Permanent Resident


Clearance:

  • TSA


Nature of Contacts:

  • Moderate communication on a frequent basis with internal and external parties


Physical Requirements:

  • Carrying: Reference manuals, flip charts, books, tools, etc.
  • Hearing: Uses telephone and listens to clients/visitors and co-workers. Uses equipment (computer, fax, and others) that gives auditory signals.
  • Lifting: May lift boxes of materials up to ___10__ lbs
  • Pushing / Pulling: Sometimes
  • Sitting: Sits 75% of workday.
  • Speaking: Speaks and understands English to communicate with clients/visitors and co-workers throughout the day.
  • Stairs: Able to walk up and down stairs into a simulator device
  • Ladders: Able to go down a rope ladder if necessary to evacuate a simulator device
  • Squatting / Kneeling: Occasionally squats or kneels
  • Standing: Stands for short periods throughout the day.
  • Travel: May be required to travel to support other training centers or receive training.
  • Vision: Reads from computer screen and hard copy, reads calendars, instructions, diagrams, uses reference manuals, etc.
  • Walking: Frequently
