Summary This position is located in Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (CHSDM). The employee develops, coordinates, promotes, and delivers content and programs to all audiences of all ages at one or more levels of immersion. The responsibilities include planning, promotion, outreach, facilitation, research, content development, evaluation and liaising with multiple stakeholders in program development and implementation. Responsibilities Develops, evaluates, and delivers education experiences, including activities, programs, and products for audiences of all ages and level of competency in design. Responsible for development and assists with conceptualizing programs and activities, design, development, testing and evaluation. Oversees or collaborates with peers in the writing of content and resource materials used in on-site, off-site programming and digital platforms. Responsible for actively striving to stay abreast with the trends in design and design education. Maintains supportive relationships with various organizations for the purposes of professional development, outreach, partnerships, and reputation building. Responsible for as assigned, on working groups or other committees which develop dynamic learning activities, programs, and/or products, such as exhibitions, citizen science projects, and web- and social media-based programming. Oversees as required the training and work of volunteers, education associates, interns, and contractors for programs, ensuring that all programs/initiatives are delivered at a high quality. Qualifications You must meet theseBasic Education Requirements: Degree:that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience– courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition to meeting the basic education requirements, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as follows: Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system. For this position Specialized experience is defined asdeveloping, evaluating, and delivering education workshop for adults, experiences, programs, and products for audiences of all ages and level of competency in design and design education practices. Experience writing, overseeing or collaborating with peers in the writing of content and resource materials used in on-site and off-site programming and online platforms. A working knowledge of K-12 STEM and Arts curriculum and National Standards. Or 3 years of progressively higher-levelgraduate education leading to a Ph.D.or equivalent doctoral degree Or a Combination: Education and experience may be combined to meet the basic qualifications.
